RESUMEN

[ABSTRACT] Empirical investigation of the effectiveness and efficacy of different forms of therapy allow more informed treatment decisions to be taken, particularly as pharmacotherapy research sets very high standards for the demonstration of efficacy (Lafata et al. 1996). In the first section of the present chapter, some central observations on the measurement of therapeutic outcome will be presented. In the second section, a core battery of instruments (called "Bel-Air") developed for the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Geneva for the evaluation of psychotherapy will be described. Finally, in the third section, screening instruments for the quick assessment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) will be presented.
