[ABSTRACT] Suicide is the fact killed himself. Is regarded as a universal human phenomenon that has been present in allhistorical epochs. However, different societies have had towards him, attitudes greatly depending on the philosophicalprinciples, religious, intellectual and legislative culture. From the psychiatric point of view has been the companion ofsome mental illnesses, however it should be noted that although suicidal behavior may be the worst clinical prognosisfor some this is also presented as a voluntary behavior in healthy subjects. From a welfare perspective the factorsdescribed by Emile Durkheim remain at the present position. Studies in postmortem brains of suicide victims has beeninsufficient evidence to indicate that alterations in the serotonergic system is an important biological factor in suicidalbehavior, like the dopamine, GABA-érgic and axis hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal along with other changes to various systems. The aim of this study is to conduct an updated review of neurobiological factors psycho-socioculturally and most significant of suicidal behavior.
