RESUMEN
Este plan de cuidados surge de la necesidad de reducir el uso y abuso de laxantes en pacientes hospitalizados en una unidad de psiquiatría.
Hemos observado que los pacientes suelen tener problemas de estreñimiento debido a su tratamiento de base. Estos problemas se complican a menudo por un estilo de vida sedentario y los múltiples ingresos.
La base principal del plan de cuidados se centra en las medidas higiénico dietéticas y en el cambio de conductas no saludables en la dieta. Con ello se pueden prevenir y reducir los problemas de estreñimiento, así como el uso de laxantes farmacológicos. Al realizarlo con medidas de bajo costo, es posible reducir los gastos hospitalarios.
Desarrollamos una hoja de registro con el fin de mejorar el seguimiento de los pacientes. Esto también hace que la gestión de la información sea más fácil para el equipo interdisciplinar y otros estudios.
Los pacientes tendrán unas herramientas básicas para resolver el estreñimiento por sí mismos dentro y fuera del hospital.This planning comes up from the necessity to reduce the use and abuse of laxatives in hospitalized patients, detected by the nursing staff of an acute psychiatric unit.
We observed that our patients used to have constipation problems due to their background therapy. These problems are often compounded by a sedentary lifestyle and multiple hospital admissions of the patients.
The main base of the implementation of these measures were basically to put into practice some hygienic and dietetic measures as well as changing unhealthy behaviors in the diet following a healthy education planning carried out with the patients and their families.
We will reduce and prevent the constipation problems as well as the use of pharmacological laxatives in many cases. This will be done with low cost measures like slightly modifying our patient?s diet and with informative and formative sessions. If hospitals implement these measures for constipation, we will reduce hospital costs.
Besides a registry sheet of the planning was developed in order to improve the monitoring of the patients. This also makes the information management easier for all the interdisciplinary team and further studies.
We have also returned the responsibility of this problem to the patients giving them the basic tools in order to make them capable to solve their problem by themselves inside and outside the hospital.
