[ABSTRACT] Asperger syndrome has its roots linked to autism, and first described in 1944 by pediatrician Hans Asperger. The term was used by Lorna Wing in 1981 in deference to the work of Hans Asperger. The syndrome, however, was not included in the fourth edition of DSM (DSM-IV) in 1994.
