Trastorno de la personalidad histriónica: Una perspectiva actual.

RESUMEN

El Trastorno de la personalidad histriónica (TPH) se caracteriza por la emotividad excesiva y demanda de atención. Las personas con este trastorno tienden a mostrar preocupación por ser atractivas físicamente, a veces son abiertamente seductoras y se sienten incómodas por no ser el centro de atención. Otros síntomas pueden ser la extraversión y una marcada tendencia a la manipulación, sumado a un discurso superficial y carente de detalles, como así también una expresión emocional dramática y exacerbada. Por estas características, sumado a su reactividad e intensidad suelen ser visto por los demás como personas superficiales. De acuerdo al DSM-IV las personas con este trastorno muestran un patrón de comportamiento que se manifiesta en la edad adulta y está presente en diversos contextos. El objetivo de este estudio es, a partir de la revisión de las publicaciones realizadas sobre la temática en inglés y portugués desde el 2005, contribuir al actual debate sob re la inclusión o no del Trastorno de la personalidad histriónica en la quinta edición del DSM. De esta manera, este trabajo brindará una visión actualizada y general sobre el TPH, lo que contribuirá a la promoción y desarrollo de estudios sobre este trastorno.Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD) is characterized by excessive emotionality and seeking for attention. Individuals with HPD tend to show an excessive preoccupation with physical attractiveness, and, sometimes, are exaggeratedly seductive, besides, they also feel uncomfortable for not being the center of attention. Other symptoms may manifest itself in the form of extraversion and tendency to manipulation, it adds up to this, a style of speech highly impressionistic and lacking in detail as well as drama and exaggerates emotional expression. Due to this exaggerated emotionality and for be very reactive and intense, they end up being seen by other as superficial. The DSM-IV criteria for HPD show a pattern of behavior that will manifest in early adulthood and is present in various contexts. Thus, this study has the proposal to establish a parallel between the published researches, gathering and presenting the current literature about the disorder and discuss the current debate about the presence or not of the HPD in the fifth edition of the DSM. The data collection for this article involved the research and reading of books and articles, both in English and Portuguese, the most part published since 2005, this way, became a study about the current literature related to HPD. Thus, this article will mount a general and update picture about the information on HPD, contributing to the advancement and development of studies on the disorder.
